Thunderhead Farm Colored Angora Goats - Bucks
We believe, as many do, that your buck makes up half your herd. Where an animal comes from genetically guides the evaluation but what he ultimately produces is key. When maintaining a small herd, emphasis on key traits is critical but not to the exclusion of producing well balanced animals. A proper frame covered with dense, uniform and lustrous fiber is a goal we are always working toward. Bucks have a specific job to do on a farm; they must also be manageable. Our bucks are encouraged from early in life to follow a grain bucket, but to keep a respectable distance. It is easy to be tempted to make "pets" of those cute, friendly little buck kids - but doing so can often produce not-so-cute adult behaviors. These guys tend to be big characters on their own, and we would have it no other way.
THF Testarossa
Sire: Thorn • Dam: Seneca
Testarossa is a white color carrier with an outstanding registered AAGBA white sire and a phenomenal black, registered dam. He has a strong, correct square frame with a uniform lock structure, excellent density and cover with tons of character and luster. He served as our herd sire for 2012 and 2013 kids producing white, caramel and solid black. We have been extremely pleased with these kids. Testarossa carries on his sire's excellent legacy providing not only lovely kids but a fine, usable, working-buck fleece. With mom’s piercing broken blue eyes he is quite the heartthrob!

Hillside Justin
Sire: H Hillside Caleb - Dam: H Hillside Abigale
This year we were lucky enough to be able to use an outstanding colored buck from Eureka! Mohair Farm in California. Justin is a well-built, medium red with an outstanding and uniform lock structure, excellent density, tons of character and a history of producing beautiful offspring. A champion in his own rite, he has sired champions and future champions. A bit of a ham who considers himself master of the universe, but a pleasure to handle and always courteous to does and humans like. Thank you Eureka! for the opportunity.
Our 2014 kids are everything we hoped for.

THF Hud
Date of Birth: 3-28-13
Sire: SLE Houston - Dam: SLE Pixie
The product of an outstanding registered white and a rock-solid white color carrier this little guy could not have turned out better! Looking for superior genetics and proven results to give us a future herd sire we found it at S & R Angoras of Washington. We were able to purchase Pixie, a white color carrier, bred to Houston (an outstanding registered white buck who is a complete package). What we got was a buck with his sire's excellent cover, tight lock structure, luster and density all backed up by mom's uniformity, luster and hearty body structure. Hud, like his namesake, is 110% buck with all the trimmings; good facial cover, full mohair tail, a strong, deep body and topline to die for. Thank you Sandy and Russ for your gracious hospitality and for sharing these wonderful genetics. Currently owned by a local Angora breeder, Michelle Long or Powell Butte, Oregon.

THF Thor
Date of Birth: 4-2-13
Sire: THF Testarrosa - Dam: STAG Harper
Thor's dam came from Tracy Ross of South Texas Angora Goats after a long search for something really special to add to the herd and Testarrosa had everything to complement it. Thor was born with a light color making him a white color carrier. He is well covered with dense, lustrous locks, tons of character mixed with just the right amount of style. Curls everywhere from his face to his toes; even has his mom's curls on his ears. Well spaced horns and broken blue eyes, he is always the first to come running to greet us at the gate. His fleeces have been phenomenal and the one he's working on looks the same.
Along with being easy to handle, he's showing all the markers of a potential herd sire.

THF Cash
Date of Birth: 7-7-13
Sire: THF Testarrosa - Dam: THFSerena
Just over a year old, after getting a late start in life, this boy is ready to work! Fine, tight black curls covering a long, deep body; tons of real estate to grow fiber. His first two fleeces were super fine, dense and lustrous. Dense is an understatement. He also got mom & dad's broken blue eyes and great cover. Fine and lustrous. As a kid we lovingly called him our "little pig pen" as he was so fine everything stuck to him - he hasn't changed much. Tons of facial cover and a nice wide horn set - we think this guy is something really special.
